The sloshing sounds of the waves as they hit against the sandy beach made the boy feel even more out of place here on this island. Sayid had escaped the school grounds and had made his way to the beach, it's peaceful scenery made Sayid feel more at peace, as he closed his deep brown eyes he could ear the waves crashing, echoing his life, harsh, demanding and yet all at the same time, Calm. Despite all he had been through, with the being a communications officer to being an iterator for the Iraqi Republican army, to killing a few people. Of course he was excepted to go into the army, his father had been a celebrated Hero. Everyone Excepted that he and his brother Omar would go into the army. But because of Omar's personality and such, he did not join. Sayid tried to focus on the present and not on the past, the smell of salt water entered his nostrils and that made him open his eyes as he sighed. Wishing he was back home and not suck on an Island filled with idiot guys who knew all, or guys who were complete ass-holes, and teachers who were just a bit of, and by just a bit Sayid meant Way off the chart of 'Not all there Mentally'. The sound of faint footsteps in the sand made Sayid turn around, his hand went to his waist, reaching for open air that once would have held his weapons. But he forgot to bring anything out here.

The young man lifted his hands in an unassuming gesture having seen the startled reaction from Sayid. "Whoa, hey there." Jack said in his congenial way, a soft smile smearing his features. "I'm not here to stick you up or anything." A slight, but nervous laugh left him as he continued his approach. And, upon evaluating the other man, he sensed there was no threat there and felt safe to greet him.
And upon dropping his hands back at his sides, he stepped forward, even offering Sayid a hand in greeting. "I'm Jack. Jack Shephard." He nodded his head for emphasis.
And when Sayid shook his hand, it was placed onto his hip as Shephard looked out over the ocean, still unable to put into words how beautiful this place was. Jack looked back at the Iraqi and gave a slight up-nod, "What are you in for?" The way in which he asked was jovial enough, and laced with a smile - but they both knew that many misfits were sent here against their will, and some, like himself had chosen to sign up for this elite school. Just to get away from his drunk father and the ruined relationship with the unfaithful Sarah.

The man who entered seemed not at all hostile, rather friendly in fact, he gave his name and stuck out his hand, Sayid took it within his own "I'm Sayid, Sayid Jarrah, i came here because-Well, forced too. And what about you Jack? Why are you here?" He asked, everyone had reasons for being here on this island, right? They all were forced or had their own reasons, or maybe- Maybe it was destiny that they all where here? Sayid shock his head at the crazy thought. Destiny?
Sayid saw Jack smile, and decided not to be rude and un-civil so he smiled back. Hoping to ease any tension in the air if there was any. Sayid looked back at the crashing waves "What grade are you in?" He asked. Hoping to learn more about the man.

"I came here to get away." Jack said while looking back out over the ocean. That was well enough to say, and it was the truth. There really was no need to elaborate beyond that, the boy understood, as to not sound complainant and no one needed to hear of his woes. But Shephard was beginning to understand that he was perhaps the only one he'd met so far that was here of his own accord. And it was a pretty interesting fact. He looked back to Sayid and gave another nod.
"Forced? That seems to be a theme." He laughed softly but not in a way that would appear to be in a mocking tone. It was more along the lines of if Jack were to say something along the lines of, 'imagine that'. The boy then shoved his hands into his pockets and looked around the beach, to see who else, if anyone were nearby. He would then answer Sayid's last question.
"I'm a senior. How about you?"

And so a theme being forced on this island was a very common indeed. Jack put his hands in his pockets and looked around. So, Jack was a Senor as well. Interasting. He did look like one though, or at the very lest a older Junior.
"I am A senior as well. Are you supposed to meet someone here?"
Sayid asked, Jack looked like he was waiting for a girl to show up, a pretty girlfriend, or maybe even a best friend, Sayid wished he knew more people, so far he knew Hurley, Shannon and now Jack. The ocean waves crashed on the jagged rocks, the sun was slowly setting in the distance, from what Sayid could tell, it felt like it was around 6:30 maybe 7:00 P.M Sayid sighed, as the wind picked up in a gentle breeze. Sayid added on to his words as he himself put his hands in his jean pockets, thumbs hanging out.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be intrusive, It just looks that way."
